Are included in the price transfers for the activities and the tickets?
All transport services are included along the camp, except in case of a participant required
to use an special transport.
(The transfer to and from the airport on other dates is not included).
The tickets and admissions to all monuments and visit are included in the price.
Do I have to attend all activities?
It is advisable, not-attendance activities cause lack of coordination and many disadvantages to the
other participants. We do not oblige anyone to carry out any activity that did not like but it is
better if you go with us.

What documentation do our son/daughter need to bring?
Medical certificated attending any kind of ailment that requires special medication.
For students belonging to the EEC, European Economic Community, a copy of their E111 (or European sanitarian card).
Valid Passport and DNI if you are spanish.
Paternal authorization as parent/legal guardian giving permission for the child to exit from Spain and participate in the trips to Gibraltar and Tangier.
Report of academic level of languages.

What clothes will I need?
We enclose a “check list” where you will find all the necessary clothes for the campus.
¿How much spending money does my child need?
It is better not to travel with much cash. All activities, transportation, lunch, tickets at monuments, etc are included in the price. Only you should bring some pocket money, about 10/15 Euros per day.
Can traveller cheques be cashed in Tarifa?
Yes, it is possible in at least one bank except traveller cheques from Thomas Cook. No bank in Tarifa accept cheques from this company.
Could I visit my son/daughter?
Of course, parents are welcome to visit the program, although we appreciate that the children do not spent away from the program too much time, but there is no problem if you would like to take him/her out for lunch or dinner from the program for a short time.
What if there is an emergency and I must contact urgently my son/daughter?
Before the course start date we mail you a list of emergency telephone numbers where you can call 24 hours a day in case of an emergency.
Does it rain during summer?
The rain season begins in October until April, it is very uncommon to have rain in the summer, but if it does rain it is only for a few hours.
What If my son/daughter get ill?
It is normal that some child get ill during the summer-camp. First he is recognized physically and tacked to Health Care (Centre for Health) the doctor will recognise him and he will follow the instructions the doctor will indicate. Your son/daughter will be attended in the residence carefully, even a monitor attend him personally if it is necessary facilitating him the drugs that the doctor has prescribed. All our monitors have made the course of first aid by the Red Cross or similar.
How is the residence?
Our Spanish Summer Camp Residence is situated in the center of Tarifa, a building of the 1960s. The school-residence is located only two minutes away from the beach, the port, the old town, the shopping area, etc.
During the year The School Residence “Guzmán el Bueno” accommodates students from the area of Tarifa. Since 2003 the participants of United Cultures-International Campus are accommodated in this school-residence.
How are the rooms?
Girls and boys are accommodated on separate floors. Teenagers will be accommodated in rooms of different sizes: rooms closed with two beds and camaretas open with three beds. The bathrooms are shared fully furnished.
Do boys and girls live in the same dorm?
Girls and boys are accommodated on separate floors. There are also two differents stairs to access the dormitories.
Are the rooms fully furnished?
The bedrooms are simple, furnished with beds, sheets and blankets which are changed every week. There is a wardrobe per bed. Both bedroom for boys and girls have a small video-DVD room and a game room.
Has the school-residence air conditioned?
No, it is not entirely necessary, in fact some nights we need a blanket.
How safe are the dorms?
The wardrobe has not keys, so we advise students in his arrival give us their passport, the flight tickets, the insurance, medical certificate and the cash or travel checks. It is not mandatory but it is recommended. We also provide the students a box office with a lock where students could save different personal belongings, for example: mobile, Ipod, money, etc…
How meals are organized?
Three meals a day: breakfast (9:00 hours), lunch (14:00 hours) and dinner (21:00 hours), students eat usually in the school-residence. For whole day excursions, students will receive a lunch package. One night a week is organized a barbecue (Friday) and another night we will go to a pizzeria for dinner (Tuesday).
Where do we eat?
In United Cultures, it is available a great dining hall with maximun capacity 80 persons fully furnished and a new fully eqquiped kitchen.
Who do cook?
In United Cultures we have a professional cook staff whose make our meals daily.
What is the food like?
The meals are simples, healthy cuisine and traditional. Students will find a nutritive and satisfied food. Also we take into consideration the different cultural and religious customs of all participants.
Can you accommodate special dietary requirements?
The only option that can have an special dietary is by religious beliefs, in this case we do not serve pork, or by medical prescription. In this case, it should be noticed with United Cultures staff prior the beginning of the program.
Can I eat outside?
It is not possible eat outside during our meals, it is advisable eat the residence’s food. it is not admited to introduce meal in the dormitories or store it in your wardrobe, you have personal lockers to do it.
What facilicities are there in the school-residence?
Multiple uses rooms: we have pingpongs tables, football tables, personal lockers, Play Station room, games tables, etc..
Sports facilities: we have a multisport football field and basketball, and a small garden with child facilities.
Internet facilities: there will be 10 computers at the students disposal in their free time.
Classrooms: there are 6 classrooms in the school fully furnished.
Hall – meeting point: A big hall where the students could relax in the sofa, listen to the music and where we give all information concerning the campus.
Office – medical kit: In this office the monitors and teachers have the daily students’ evaluation progress, we offer a personal attention and there is first-aid kit.
What safety procedures are in place?
Our campus has numerous procedures and precautions in place to ensure the safety and security of our students. All systems are new due to the reforms carried out during the year 2007. Fire alarms and extinguishers, security stairs, handicapped access, etc.
What supervisory staff do you have in place at the residence?
Our staff lives in the school-residence and they are responsible for the safety and security of all of our students. The students are supervised by the monitors who have a strict control schedule for the activities carried out in the programme. Students must inform in case of exit outside the residence in their free time where they go and at what time they have to return.
How many students do sleep per bedroom?
Maximun 3.
How do you decide on the sleeping arrangements?
Our criteria is the following: we consider their ages, their nationalities, their mother tongues and their relationship. Although, alter some days the start of the program you can make a only change and share the bedroom with your friend.
What about laundry?
Once a week students could deposit in a bag a certain amount of clothes to wash. The delicate clothing should be washed by the student or acquire some external service. The clean clothes will be returned bend and dry.
Once a week the sheets are changed.
In each bedroom there will be irons at the students disposal.
What type of electrical plugs and what voltage do you have?
In Europe we have two prong round plugs and 220 voltage. Should you have 110 voltage you would need a converter from 110V to 220 voltage.
What legal guarantee does offer the organization?
United Cultures – International Campus is produced by Aky Oaky Adventure Company S.L. CIF B-11525201.
Aky Oaky Adventure Company Works since 1.997. 11 years of experience running all kind program for teenagers, environmental education, cultural trips, sports activities, etc. Since 2004 this organization dedicate all her time to the United Cultures programme development.
We comply with the existing legislation for the production of this programme: no formal education and active tourism with the license: AT/CA/0003. We have updated all insurances: liability insurance and accident insurance.
How strict is the program?
The students collaboration is essential, United Cultures has a centre’s code conduct that must be followed by all students. In the general programme documents there is detailed copy of the disciplinary rules and Code of Conduct.
Absolute prohibition of consumption/acquirement/posesión of tabacco, drugs, alcohol, etc. In case of any pupil fail to comply the law or United Cultures’ alcohol or drug rules, United Cultures would have the right to send the pupil home immediately at their parents’ expense.
How many supervisoris are there per student in United Cultures’ programme?
United Cultures staff members will work together to ensure your safety throughout your stay. We have at students disposal 1 supervisory to every 12 students twenty-four hours a day.
Staff are trained to follow emergency response plans should any emergency arise on campus or while on an excursion.
How do you select your staff?
Our residencial staff all have a great deal of experience working with adolescents. They have many years of experience in teaching and all they have university degrees in Spanish or English languistics.
All our staff show us with the necessary documents that year after year they comply with the set of rules required in this sector.
All participants are accomodated in the same space?
United Cultures stands for cultural and linguistic exchange so we believe essential accommodate the students in the same school-residence, spanish and english students. This should give them the chance to learn more about each other cultures and languages. At the same time it facilitates us the organization of activities, lessons, going out, animation, etc..
Can the students walk around Tarifa on their own?
During their free time, they can walk around delineated areas in Tarifa and always supervised by the counsellors. The counsellors will not be with theirs but physically located in the same area, so it will be not difficult for the students find them.
Nevertheless, the students must pass controls never more time schedules an hour and 30 minutes.
What if I get sick?
We recommend that pupils from the EEC, European Economic Community (Iceland, Lichtenstein Norway and Switzerland) bring a copy of their E111 (or European sanitarian card) which covers European citizens in case of accidents.
In the case of you get sick you will be escorted by United Cultures staff to the nearest medical facility and your parents will be notified. (Please see conditions).
Is the airplane ticket included in the price?
The price does not include the airplane ticket. Please book a flight for your son/daughter to Málaga, Jerez de la Frontera or Sevilla.
Will someone pick me up at the airport? How will I recognize United Cultures staff at the airport?
As long as you arrive the United Cultures’ counsellors will pick you up and transport you to the campus. United Cultures staff will be wearing staff t-shirts and have a placard with the logo of United Cultures. Moreover, we will send you the counsellor’s photos.
Is included in the price the transfer from the airport to Tarifa?
Yes, United Cultures will transport you directly to the campus without extra charge.
Can I arrive directly to the campus in Tarifa?
It is not a problem but you must let us know in advance. Some parents like accompany their child and know the school-residence and the staff. You must take into account that the first day is the organization and coordination’s day and it will be a little difficult receive all parents as we should desire but you will be always welcome and you could speak to anyone.
If I arrive in Sevilla, Jerez or Málaga by train, will someone pick me up at the station?
We will have an United Cultures’ staff picking you up at the train station in Sevilla or Málaga.
When should I arrive?
The start and the end of the programme is always on Sundays, 6, 13, 20 and 27 July. The hour is not important but it is better if you arrive between 10:00 a 22:00 hrs.
Nevertheless we will help you in case of you do not find a flight arriving or departing in the indicated dates. Please, contact us for the additional costs for transfer arriving or departing in other dates.
At the end of the program, we will be picked up to the airport or train station?
As same as the arrival, we will pick you up to the airport or train station.
When I will have the flight ticket, what must I do?
It is very important to communicate us as soon as a possible the travel itinerary detailing the timetable of arrival and departure, the name of the flight company and the flight number.
Can I travel with another United Culture’s participant?
If you wish we can get you in touch with others participants arriving from the same country or geographical area.
Is included the transport for all activities?
All transports for the activities or excursions during the development of programme is included in the price.
Where I will attend the lessons?
You will attend English and Spanish lessons in the School-Residence’s classrooms.
Who does teach the classes?
Since the beginning, United Cultures works with The Escuela Hispalense, responsible for the academic programme. Hispalense Spanish language school was founded in 1989 and has the accreditation CEELE. The English course is taught by experienced teachers of English Time School. They are native speakers, British or Americans. Both schools have experience and advanced qualifications for teaching these languages to non-native speakers.
Which education do your teachers have?
Every faculty member is carefully selected after a personal interview with the languages coordinator. All teachers from the United Cultures programme have university degrees in Spanish and English linguistics.
They are native speakers of the language they are teaching and have advanced qualifications and experience.
What is the level of the classes?
We teach three different levels: beginners, intermediate and advanced.
How can I know the language level of my son/daughter?
Before arrival, the student must take our admission test in order to know his/her language level. The first day in Tarifa, every teen will take another test with the main of place them into the appropriate level.
How many students are there in one course level?
Class size is normally limited to 12 students in order to facilitate an interactive format.
How is the day to day in the school?
Spanish and English classes are scheduled from 10.00 am to 1.30 pm with a 30 minutes break between 11.30 am and 12.00 pm, Mondays, Tuesdays, Thursdays and Fridays. On Wednesdays, we take all day for excursions. The Spanish and English classes are divided into two sessions: the first session is based on the grammar and the second session is based on the conversation. Then, in the second session, the teachers of United Cultures will organize group outings to practice Spanish and English outside the classroom in daily life situations.
How much homework will I have?
Normally you have not, but you could participate in the tutorial service if you have any doubt concerning the grammar.
What language you use in the classroom?
The teachers speak and teach always in the language they are teaching but depending on the level, they could use the Spanish or English language to facilitate the understanding.
Do we get any accreditation after finishing the campus?
At the end of the course, every student participating in United Cultures program will receive a school confirmation. Also we will send to the students’ colleges a complete certificate of their academic course work.
Do you offer any kind of tutorial service after finishing the campus?
Once you finish the campus and in the case you request it we will keep sending you by e-mail our newsletters with homeworks and news refering to Tarifa as well as the different activities concerning United Cultures – International Campus.
Is there any other evaluation method to consider?
During the development of the summer camp the counsellors will evaluate daily the social behaviour, the integration in the group, the participation in the activities, etc of the students. Once the course will have finished we will send this report to the parents.
